  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup unsalted butter at room temperature
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • â…” cup pumpkin puree, blotted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cream together unsalted butter, white sugar, and dark brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Blot pumpkin puree to remove excess moisture and mix with egg and maple syrup into the creamed mixture.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture until combined; fold in half of the chopped pecans.
  6. Scoop dough onto a cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 13–15 minutes until lightly golden; transfer to a cooling rack.
  8. Prepare icing by whisking powdered sugar, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves; drizzle over cooled cookies and sprinkle remaining pecans.
